AMANDINE and her man CLEMENT, half of the directing duo WE ARE FROM LA, on the set of their music video for PHARRELL’s track “happy.”
COCOA RIGAL was behind the scenes just waiting for her time to shine.
between scenes we killed time in chinatown.
unwound at the beach with the lovely french ladies SARAH, AMANDINE + LULU with the perfect happy track stuck in our heads.

i made this visual poem to encourage the spirit of adventure in all of us. from our backyards to opposite hemispheres.
the short is made up of entirely original footage from all 7 continents + serves as an introduction to a video series exploring the sensation of wonderment + shared international experience.
through a bit of nomadic ethnography, these shorts will highlight quality of life in places made taboo by the projections of others.
destination one : YEMEN begins filming in the coming months. until then, check out photos from behind-the-scenes HERE + thank you to the following people without whom this video would not have come together : T, YUMNA AL-ARASHI, MANU COROLIAN, TODD EDWARDS, DAN DE LARA, BRANDON LEE STRATTON, THE BLAUS, + JON SOLEIMANI
still from “the rape of europe,” a spectacular art history film, documenting the plundering of master artworks during WWII. there is a brief profile on french resistance hero ROSE VALLAND, as well as the MONUMENT MEN tasked with redistributing the works back to their rightful owners. some works are still “lost” to this day. the most famous of which is RAPHAEL’s “portrait of a young man.”
“art belongs to humanity, without it we are animals. we just fight, we live, we eat. art is, it’s what makes us human.”
